Industrial Painter

The function of the Industrial Painter at Harris American Jacksonville is to paint industrial machinery using sprayed enamel paint, as well as preparing equipment for painting by sandblasting, taping and covering areas to exclude paint application. Secondary duties include shipping preparation including packaging, strapping, and loading heavy equipment via forklift.

 Responsibilities:

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by removing old paint, rust, and contaminants through sanding, scraping, and chemical treatments.
  • Mix and apply paints, varnishes, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment, ensuring even and consistent coverage.
  • Understand and follow safety protocols and best practices for painting in an industrial environment.
  • Inspect and assess the quality of completed work, making adjustments as necessary to meet quality standards.
  • Maintain painting equipment and tools, ensuring they are in working condition and properly cleaned.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to complete projects on time and within specifications.
  • Packaging and preparing equipment or parts for shipment
  • Loading large loads onto truck beds via forklift

Requirements

  • Trained in Forklift Operation
  • Two (2) years’ previous industrial painting experience
  • Familiarity with packaging, strapping, and material handling
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand for long periods
  • Able to sit for long periods
  • Able to climb ladders/truck beds/steps
  • Able to Crawl, crouch, kneel and stoop to paint, to paint, tape, or package equipment
  • Able to withstand outdoor temps for extended periods while wearing PPE
  • Able to wear a respirator for extended periods while painting/sandblasting
  • Able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Able to manipulate controls, nozzles, and other required tools
  • Able to reach at/above/below shoulder level
  • Possess far and near visual acuity for paint accuracy as well as peripheral vision for safety
  • Able to hear loud noises such as alarms for safety
